Trivia
Cultural references
- The scene with a field full of injured children from the trampoline is a reference to the field of injured soldiers shot in the film Gone with the Wind.
- When Homer pushes the trampoline off the cliff, it bounces on a pillar of rock right back up, lands on Homer and pushes him down into the overhanging rock ledge: an homage to the Chuck Jones-directed Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner Looney Tunes cartoons. The background and music imitate the desert landscape and music from the cartoons.
- At church, Reverend Lovejoy attempts to play the classic rag The Entertainer by Scott Joplin on the organ.
Goofs
- At night, Homer and Marge listen to some kids jumping on Homer's car. Marge then sits on the bed naked, but when the camera zooms to her face, a little portion of a pyjama is seen on her neck.
