Nedward Flanders Sr. is the father of Ned Flanders and the husband of Mona Flanders. He is a beatnik. He and his wife brings Ned to Dr. Foster. It was said that he was in the army, during World War II, and was known as Major Flanders, and was a superior of Abraham Simpson. Despite this, however, Abraham Simpson once referred to him as "Commander Flanders" when scolding Private Charles Montgomery Burns. It is unknown exactly how Major Flanders died.
