Ling Bouvier was adopted by Selma Bouvier in China after discovering that she had reached menopause, in the 2005 episode "Goo Goo Gai Pan".

Adoption

She adopted Ling after lying about being married to Homer Simpson, in order to fool the Chinese authorities into thinking that Ling would be part of a traditional family as opposed to a single mother.

Voice

In her first appearance in Goo Goo Gai Pan she only made a few appearances making baby giggles and her only actual word in the series was "momma". During her other 3 appearances she did not talk. She was voiced by Nancy Cartwright

She first appeared in her adoption episode Goo Goo Gai Pan, Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore, The Wife Aquatic, and Rome-Old and Julie-Eh. Like Mrs. Muntz, she is a character who appears more in new episodes as she appeared in a newer one. She has made cameos in her three appearances after her first one and has only been center to her first appearance.
