The episode was written by Broti Gupta (first segment), Michael Price (second segment), and Dan Greaney (third segment), and directed by Matthew Faughnan. It guest stars Ike Barinholtz as Wayne the Grip, Viola Davis as the Narrator, Idris Elba as the Devil, and Michael Keaton as Hal Julian.[4]

Synopsis
- In this year's installment of the annual fright-fest, the town is menaced by a mysterious murdering monster from out of the sewers, Krusty has a demonic special guest on his live Halloween special, and we go a thousand years into Springfield's poseable plastic post-apocalyptic future.[3]
Chubbo and the Stinker: It'll be the first segment and is a parody of Jaws and The Blob, set in the 1970s Springfield, where two characters get killed off when a monster created from sentient lard, named the "fatburg", takes over Springfield, feeding on human fat. First, Chief Wiggum is killed, but the big death is Bart Simpson, who, it's revealed, is drained of all his lard and dies.[9][10][11]
Untitled segment: It features a giant hat on a catapult, an hatapult, due to a character only knowing how to hit things with hats.[12]
Untitled segment: Krusty makes a deal with the devil on his live Halloween special.[9]
Untitled segment: In a poseable plastic post-apocalyptic future akin to Waterworld, Bart and Lisa fight for the future of humanity.[9]
