• The episode title is a reference to the 1944 song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by Frank Loesser and it is the same song (with a few changes to the lyrics) that Sideshow Bob and Cassandra sing together in the final scene.
• During the title screen gag and couch gag, "Deck the Halls" plays.
• During the Created By and Developed By credits, "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" by Felix Mendelssohn plays.
• "Carol of the Bells" by Mykola Leontovych plays several times in the episode.
• The United Parcel Service (UPS) delivers parcels in Springfield.
• Sideshow Bob sings a parody of the Christmas carol "Ding Dong Merrily on High".
• Homer suggests that he and Marge can watch the 2018 film Roma, which he thinks is about the restaurant chain Tony Roma's.
• The Simpson family sings the children's song "Baby Shark" in the car.
• The Gnome-in-the-Home Dome is a parody of the ride It's a Small World.

  • The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin, a reference to the rejection of evolution by religious groups.
  • Silent Spring by Rachel Carson, a reference to conservative distrust of environmental policies.
  • The song "Silent Night" plays during the Yule Log.
• The Channel 6 News headline is "The Ghost of Christmas Presents", a reference to the Ghost of Christmas Present from A Christmas Carol.
• Scott Bakula mentions NCIS: New Orleans to Wiggum, and Wiggum mentions Quantum Leap to him, two shows Scott starred in.
• Sandra Bullock puts on a blindfold, a reference to her film Bird Box.

• "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" by Darlene Love plays whilst Mr. Burns is handing out presents.

• The images during the end credits reference Christmas traditions and songs:

• The website that Lenny uses to buy his Christmas gifts doesn't have a top-level domain in its URL.
• Homer's address on his Kris Kringle Union card lists him as living at Springfield Beach, the same place Sideshow Bob's card says.
