Plot
At the scene of an accident, Springfielders start singing until the Sky Finger crushes them and the cars, except for Lenny.
On a rainy day, the Simpson family goes to a STEM Conference, where Lisa meets Brendan Beiderbecke and falls in love with him and his piano playing, bringing him home to practice. Meanwhile, Bart discovers a passion for chemistry and experiments in his treehouse with Milhouse.
Even the bullies are outshined by Brendan, including Nelson, Lisa's ex, who tries to impress her musically as well at Phineas Q. Butterfat's Ice Cream Parlor, creating a conflict in her heart. Homer and Marge become worried about Bart, but he appears to be doing well for once—until an accident at school seems to be linked to him.
The family attends a talent show, where Bart presents a chemistry demonstration while Nelson and Brendan perform. Nelson is booed throughout his act, and Brendan performs well but is disqualified for living in West Springfield and is set to transfer to a school there. Lisa ends up alone, while Bart causes the school to fill with a chemistry reaction.
