Ben-Hur is a novel by Lew Wallace, adapted to film several times and of whom the 1959 epic movie by William Wyler starring Charlton Heston is the most iconic. The picture has been referenced a few times in The Simpsons.

The scene where prisoners in the desert succomb to thirst and are given water by Mr. Burns is a direct parody of a similar scene in "Ben-Hur" where Jesus Christ gives thirsty prisoners, among which Judah Ben-Hur, water.
	9	179	"The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson"	The sequence where Homer races alongside the carriage in Central Park was a reference to a similar scene in 'Ben-Hur'.
	185	"The Two Mrs. Nahasapeemapetilons"	As Homer and Jasper race down the hallway in their wheelchairs, their wheels rub up against each other, just like in the chariot race in "Ben-Hur."
