Martha's Vineyard is an island town just south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and a popular summer vacation spot.
History
After the ants began shorting out the navigation systems of the space shuttle Corvair, James Taylor remarked that he had quite a severe ant problem at the vineyard.[1]
Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie went on vacation to Martha's Vineyard to use Marge's Aunt Edith's house for three weeks, rent free. Her only condition was that Homer couldn't go. The house was located south of Squibagansett, east of Codtucket, next to Little Crabkill Bog. At Aunt Edith's house, Bart got bitten by ticks. A ferry full of tourists went in on the weekend on The Day Tripper and swarmed the town, with the shopkeepers putting the prices up. Marge decided to cut the vacation short after this.[2]
