Cultural references
- The episode title is a reference to the TV series The White Lotus. The episode's plot parodies elements from the HBO series, mainly it's second season, including the mystery surrounding a dead body floating by the beach and the Sicilian-inspired setting.
- The opening titles are a parody of The White Lotus' season 2 opening. It includes art references, mainly classicism, such as:
- Moe as a centaur playing a lyre.
- Legs, Louie and Frankie the Squealer stabbing Quimby, parodying the assassination of Julius Caesar.
- The faces of Krusty and Sideshow Mel representing the comedy and tragedy masks.
- Patty and Selma are the Lernaean Hydra
- Maggie is Cupid
- Homer and Marge are Adam and Eve.

- The drugged otter's name, "Oxy Otter", references the oxycodone, a common drug of abuse. It's also a reference to the Cocaine Bear, a bear that overdosed on cocaine.
- The ending song gives the example of Fantasy Island, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Lord of the Flies when referring to rich people acting despicably.
