When The Better Business Battalion started apprehending shoplifters, they became so successful that the crime rate in Springfield dropped to zero. With the drop in crime there also came a drop in store's prices. Beer at Moe's Tavern only cost a quarter a glass and as a result Homer ended up getting so drunk that when he awoke he discovered that he had become the Prime Minister of New Zealand.
A newspaper headline later declared that New Zealand and Australia were now at war, which was presumably Homer's fault, and this incident likely led to Homer being kicked out of office.[6]
