Smilin' Joe Fission is the official mascot of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and the Springfield Isotopes.

History[edit]

He starred in a filmstrip about nuclear power, which was shown to Bart's fourth-grade class when they visited the plant on a school trip.^[1]

A Smilin' Joe Fission Eternal Night Light was on sale at Cockamamie's.^[2]

His pet peeve is to be mistaken for Ross Perot. He was featured in other animated atomic films, such as Atom and Eve: A Return to Eden, Why Flesh Won't Fall Off Your Face, and Please Don't Eat the Daisies Near the Recovery Tank.^[3]
