Town/City Information

Nantucket is an island 30 miles (48 km) south from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. From mid-1700s until its decline in the 1850s, Nantucket was the whaling capital of the world.
History[edit]
More than once Homer starts off the limerick "There once was a man from Nantucket," but never finishes.[1][2]
When the Simpson family are seated at a table in the shape of a map of Massachusetts at the Americatown theme restaurant in Tokyo, Nantucket is the tray of Maggie's highchair.[2]
Inspired by the painting of a ship above the couch, Marge set her romance novel The Harpooned Heart in Nantucket during whaling times.[3]
