As part of an effort to recover from mounting financial problems, entertainer Krusty the Clown expanded his merchandising empire with a wide range of branded products, including board games, toys, posters, lunch boxes, toothpaste, crowd-control barriers, and a Krusty Troll doll. Despite the massive merchandising campaign and constant television infomercials promoting the products, Krusty's accountant warned that sales had sharply declined and that the entertainer was rapidly running out of money.
