Mr. Burns and Mr. Monopoly's Excellent Rivalry is a special short that serves as a commercial for The Simpsons update to the mobile game Monopoly Go!. It was released on YouTube on June 1, 2026.
Plot
Mr. Monopoly is sailing his yacht into a parking space at the harbor when Mr. Burns' yacht comes in, crashing into Mr. Monopoly's yacht. They are surprised to see each other because they have a history. Years ago, at Yale University, Mr. Monopoly traded a thimble for Burns' top hat. When Mr. Monopoly put the top hat on, Burns' girlfriend left him for Mr. Monopoly. All the other students flocked to Mr. Monopoly, enraging Mr. Burns. In the present day, Burns challenges Mr. Monopoly to a duel to the death.
Mr. Monopoly sets up a mansion next to Burns' manor, blocking out the sun in the process. Burns tells Smithers to release the hounds, but Mr. Monopoly is already petting them. He then has the hounds bury stacks of money to make money trees grow. Mr. Burns declares that he's coming for Mr. Monopoly, then steals his hat and attacks his mansion with a wrecking ball. Mr. Monopoly retaliates by declaring that he will take Burns' best employee. Burns gives Homer a #1 Employee mug, thinking that will trick Mr. Monopoly into taking Homer. However, Mr. Monopoly sees through the ruse and takes Smithers and Burns' catchphrase.
Burns and Mr. Monopoly attack each other with statues of themselves dangling from cranes as the people of Springfield watch, destroying the Statue of Jebediah Springfield in the process. Chief Wiggum arrives to arrest them, and they are locked in a cell together. Mr. Monopoly then reveals that he traded the top hat to some kid for a thimble. Bart comes out of Springfield Elementary School on his skateboard, wearing the top hat, declaring himself Mr. Monopoly and telling the kids to "eat my hat."
