New Orleans is a city in the state of Louisiana.
History[edit]
Marge performs in a musical version of A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Llewellyn Sinclair. The play contains a song defaming the city.[1]
When the Simpsons were flying to Gainesville, Florida, Homer caused a riot on the plane, causing it to get redirected to New Orleans. Here, Homer went on a massive food binge whilst Lisa tried to rediscover her talent for jazz.[2]

In a spin-off of The Simpsons, Chief Wiggum travels to New Orleans to become a private investigator. He is joined by his son Ralph, and Principal Skinner, aka "Skinny Boy".[3]
Behind the Laughter[edit]
The song about New Orleans that was sung in "A Streetcar Named Marge" generated much controversy from the city because of its lyrics. An apology was made, in the form of a chalkboard gag in the following episode, in which Bart writes "I will not defame New Orleans" repeatedly on the chalkboard.
