Cultural references[edit]
- The title of the episode is a reference to the play My Fair Lady.
- This episode is the second to make a reference to this play; the other is "My Fair Laddy" from season 17.
- The first scene right after the opening is a parody of The Jetsons:
- Homer as George Jetson.
- Bart as Elroy Jetson.
- Lisa as Judy Jetson.
- Marge as Jane Jetson.
- Bender from Futurama also appears at the end of that scene.
- Laramie Jr. is a reference to Laramie Cigarettes
- Lenny is glad that Moe has the opportunity to attend a Laney Fontaine show. He says she is funny and full of Hollywood stories, and gives the example of Jimmy Stewart being a "super-nice guy". Stewart was famous for many "nice-guy" characters he played in many movies.
- Laney Fontaine sings a slightly modified version of "If This Isn't Love" written by E. Y. Harburg. She also finds Moe attractive and compares him with American actor Patrick Swayze, who was named by People magazine as the "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1991.
- One of the ladies at Moe's Ladies night was wearing a Yamaha Mamas jacket. Yamaha Motors is one important motorcycle manufacturer.
- Marge started working for social media app like Uber.
- Gil Gunderson thought he was on Cash Cab, an American game show where participants answer questions and can earn money.
- One of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspectors interpreted Freddie Mercury in a cover band, and was later "demoted" to Brian May.
- One of the taxi drivers, Slava, says his taxi is empty like Sochi Marriott, a hotel in Sochi, Russia.
- Mr. Burns owns a Venus flytrap, a carnivorous plant.
- Moe escalates to a high position at Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. On one occasion, he wanted to join his friends at the cafeteria for lunch because there was no more Beaujolais Crus, a French wine, at the executive dinner room and he was not going to drink white wine with his Coq au vin.
- A parody of the song "Taxi" by Harry Chapin is heard at Marge's car.
Continuity[edit]
- Moe references Elon Musk. ("The Musk Who Fell to Earth")
- Some of the taxi drivers have appeared previously:
- Slava from "The Fabulous Faker Boy"
- One of Homer's kidnappers from "Blame It on Lisa"
- The female taxi driver from "How I Spent My Strummer Vacation"
- The Cheery Red Tomatoes reappear. ("The Last of the Red Hat Mamas")
- In a scene Bart is dressed with Junior Campers uniform ("Boy-Scoutz 'n the Hood").
- The hangman who whipped Homer is seen in the background of the Cafeteria. ("Rosebud")
- Absolut Krusty can be seen in Moe's Tavern at the end. ("Barting Over")
- Texxon is seen. ("Lisa Simpson, This Isn't Your Life")
