• The name of the episode is a reference to the TV series Stranger Things; however, the episode is not a parody of it.
• Marge mentions the Oscars, Tom Brady and the Super Bowl.
• Mr. Burns mentions the "It's a Wonderful Life" film.

Goofs

• One of the promotional images for this episode have a photo showing a 10-year old Bart, a 8-year old Lisa and Maggie is visible in the background, though Bart is 6 years old, Lisa is 4 years old and Maggie is still unborn.
• Todd is a fetus despite being born and entertaining Bart while Lisa was born.
