With Great Power... is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #86.
Synopsis[edit]
- "Bart and Milhouse seek out their own superheroic origin stories by attempting to acquire "accidental" superpowers. However, they soon discover that with trying to obtain great power comes great irresponsibility."
Plot[edit]
Bart and Milhouse are in Bart's treehouse, reading comic books. They decide to also become superheroes. They pay a visit to Professor Frink, where Bart "accidentally" pours an incomplete formula over Milhouse. It is actually hair growth formula, which turns out to work on Milhouse. This attempt to get Milhouse to become a superhero fails, so instead they try to get Milhouse hit by lightning, so he holds an umbrella when it thunders. Milhouse gets hit, but does not change and is not a superhero.
Bart and Milhouse's next idea is to get stung by radioactive wasps, like The Stinger. However, the wasps are not radioactive and Milhouse only gets stung after the experiment. Bart and Milhouse have run out of ideas, but then they realize that they need something that can provide them with real energy, and they decide to visit the power plant. They go into the room with the containment core, where they discover that Homer has shut himself in and they save him from becoming mutated into an amazing colossal Homer. Homer asks the kids what are they doing at the plant, and they tell him they want to get super powers. Homer tells then that they already have super powers: the power to be kids. Bart and Milhouse get excited and start to enjoy their new powers. The next day when Milhouse is being bullied, he realizes that his new super powers don't work.
