The Town Sundial is located in front of the Springfield Town Hall.
History[edit]
Mr. Burns announced a project intended to block out the sun to increase demand for artificial lighting and heating. Waylon Smithers objected, warning that the environmental consequences would be severe and that even the town's sundial would become useless. After a heated exchange, Smithers refused to support the plan and was dismissed from his position. Burns then continued with the project, destroying parts of a model of the town while celebrating its progress. Later, once the sun-blocking system was activated, the town was plunged into dim light. During the resulting chaos, Mr. Burns was later shot and collapsed onto the sundial.[1]
