Synopsis[edit]
- "Homer's longstanding and unfulfilled promise to take the kids camping takes a turn for the worst, right into the middle of a snowstorm."
Plot[edit]
Bart, Lisa and Maggie are mad at Homer because he promised to take them camping in the summer. He promises to do it soon. The next winter, Homer dreams that the children have taken him to an ice floe. They push him into the water, where Poseidon tries to drink him as an ice cube. Homer wakes up and takes the children and Marge camping. There is no snow in the woods at first, but after a sudden snowstorm, the car is covered with snow and the tent blows away. Homer tries to drive back to town and purchase a new tent, but discovers that the shovel is in the trunk. Lisa and Marge build an igloo but they begin to freeze. Bart meets a dog but Marge discovers that it is a wolf, and the rest of the family runs away from Bart and the wolf. Bart comes after them with the wolf and tells them that he is friendly, and shows them some tricks that he can do. The family gets hungry and builds snow people of themselves, but they do not forget that they are hungry. They are discovered by Kent Brockman, who is out with his cameraman Steve. Kent takes the family to the dog show and gives a report on the missing wolf, who is actually a female dog. Homer feels disappointed because the camping trip was unsuccessful, but the family tells him that they loved it and think it was the best camping trip ever. Homer falls asleep and dreams that the children and Marge come to the ice floes that Homer is on, and they go ice surfing.
