The Rise and Fall of Krustyland, Part One is a Krusty Comics story first printed in Krusty Comics #1. It is the first part in The Rise and Fall of Krustyland series.
Synopsis[edit]
- Owning money to the Springfield Mafia, Krusty decides to open his own theme park, Krustyland, to raise the money to pay off his loans. Needing a place to build the theme park, Krusty gets Ned Flanders to sign over the rights to Trustyland to build his new park cheaply and quickly.
On television, Krusty airs a commercial saying that his new theme park will open in only twenty-eight days' time and tells kids to start pestering their parents to go. The Simpsons are excited, but Rabbi Krustofsky doesn't care about it. At a board meeting, Krusty tells his board members that he'll be in real trouble if they don't open the park, despite the board pointing out that they don't have the money, land, or even a name for it. Krusty tells them that they can't put it off because if they don't get the theme park open, the Springfield Mafia will kill him. Elsewhere, at Trustyland, Ned Flanders tells the story of the place to the campers with him. Trustyland was the place where Jebediah Springfield originally wanted to start building Springfield. However, evil spirits stopped him. Back then, the land was a paradise of rich earth, peaceful streams, and shady trees. However, the settlers cut down all the trees and ran the original inhabitants off the land. The new settlers set to work building up the town, but that night, everything was destroyed and blown all over the place. The next day, Jebediah had Elmo Yamhill serve as a lookout to find the cause of this. However, the next day, Jebediah found the house destroyed and nothing left of Elmo but his bones, picked clean.
The next morning, Krusty delivers a truck of pork squeezin's from Krusty's Pork Squeezin's to Trustyland for the campers to eat. Krusty gets a splinter from one of the crates, and when Krusty sees the name of Trustyland hidden behind a box of pork products, he gets an idea and thinks he can turn the location into Krustyland. He tells Ned that he got an injury at Trustyland, so he wants to sue. At that moment, Lionel Hutz arrives, and Krusty gets him to help get Trustyland signed over to him. As Ned reluctantly signs over the land to Krusty, he warns the clown that evil spirits guard the place and that if the provisions of the deed are broken, evil will be unleashed. Krusty then has Bart show him around the land, and a boulder almost crushes them.
Back at home, Lisa tells Bart that the deed states that no structure is to be built higher than one story or destruction will follow. Bart chooses to ignore this because Krusty also ignores it. However, Bart then hurts himself by slipping on his skateboard. Meanwhile, at the Legitimate Businessman's Social Club, Krusty tells Fat Tony that he will have the money after Krustyland opens up. After this, Krusty works hard and fast to get the money and permits for Krustyland while Bart works on creating the attractions for the park. Needing more money, Krusty allows Mr. Burns to dump nuclear waste on the land.
Soon, Krustyland is nearly ready to open, and Bart is excited for it, despite Lisa telling him that something bad will happen. Later, Krusty tells Bart that his work is done and kicks him out of Krustyland, telling him that he can't even attend the grand opening as it's for VIPs only. That night, Krustyland has its grand opening. However, one of the letters falls off of the sign.
