Seniors Reading Poetry Night/Quotes

Wikisimpsons - The Simpsons Wiki

Bart: Poetry? Kill me now!
Marge: Poetry is like that rap music that you kids are so crazy about.
Bart: Does it have a thumping back beat?
Marge: No.
Bart: Will there be gritty, politically-charged tales of life on the street?
Marge: Well, no...
Bart: But there will be incessant profanity won't there?
Marge: Of course there wi--.... No!

Jasper Beardley: ....That brave man's name was Matlock.
Retirement Castle administrator: Thank you, Jasper. Now is there anyone who has a poem that's not about Matlock?

Grampa: When modern times have got us down/and we're feeling in the lurch,/we don't reach for liquor or women/instead, we get us to a church. We ignore the cross and altar/and keep our eyes on the little white balls/and listen to the ex-TV weatherman/and the numbers that he calls. Of course, we're talkin' bingo./Why does it light our fire?/For the same reason that we live in this dump/we didn't save enough money to retire.

Bart: That was pretty cool, Grampa. You taught me about a part of church life I didn't know about. Gambling.
Grampa: It's the best part!
Marge: Bart, ignore what I told you about listening to your elders. Except for me, of course.
