- This issue is a parody of Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams' Green Lantern/Green Arrow series from the 1970s. The cover in particular is a parody of Green Lantern #85's cover.
- Claude is saved by a hat that belongs to Mary Tyler Moore, as the hat and the woman with the puzzled look is supposed to be a reference to Mary Tyler Moore throwing her hat in the air in the opening of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
