Synopsis[edit]

"Homer lands his own political talk show after a video featuring his impassioned rant on poor treatment at the airport goes viral. As his talk show quickly gains popularity nationwide, Homer becomes the spokesperson for the Gravy Movement and the voice of America's newest political party. But when ill-informed Homer is asked to select the next Republican nominee for President and officially endorses right-wing rock star Ted Nugent, Marge and Lisa worry that Homer's opinion and influence might be more powerful than he realizes."

Plot[edit]

The Simpson family are at Springfield Airport about to board a plane to Bozeman, Montana for cousin Cathy's wedding. Homer's suitcase is overfull so after much sorting out and dumping of stuff later, they are ready to board. Boarding the plane, Homer tries to get his suitcase into the luggage compartment and ends up forcing it out the side of the plane instead. Due to a prison break in New South Wales, the plane was held up at the terminal for 7 hours with no air conditioning and with passengers unable to get out of their seats. Fed up of this poor treatment, Homer starts to rant over the intercom about how badly the passengers are being treated before locking himself in a toilet then traveling down the plane on a trolley. Bart films this and puts it on the Internet.

Homer, heavily clothed to disguise himself, goes to the Kwik-E-Mart but Apu knows it's him. After hearing how much everyone enjoyed his rant, Homer gets an invitation to join Nash Castor on his show, Head Butt with Nash Castor. He goes onto the show and manages to shout down Castor in an argument. As a result of this, the network executives decide to give Homer his own TV show, Gut Check with Homer Simpson.

Homer eventually gains the attention of the Springfield Republican Party who invite him to their headquarters to allow him to choose their next Presidential nominee. After looking at the options, Homer goes for Ted Nugent after he comes into the room.

Homer brings Nugent home to tell the family that he is backing him. Lisa is appalled by this as Nugent stands for everything that Lisa is against. Nugent stays a couple of nights at the house and does several crazy things, including firing Bart's friends with a bow at a target in the Flanders' back yard.

Homer tells everyone to vote for Nugent on Gut Check and after a family meal without gravy, Homer starts the Gravy Boat Movement. Many people take to the streets with gravy boats on their heads.

The family, getting concerned with this, come up with a plan to trick Homer into not endorsing Nugent. They get a James Madison lookalike to persuade him not to endorse Nugent. However, Homer works out that it was a trick and tries to tell everyone to vote for Nugent once more on Gut Check. However, he can not do it as he doesn't believe that Nugent should be President deep down so he calls the whole thing off.
