Mrs. McFearly's compost heap is a pile of decomposing organic waste in Springfield, notorious for its enormous size, smell, and for being fiercely guarded by Mrs. McFearly herself.

History

During a controversial KBBL radio broadcast, conservative commentator Birch Barlow claimed that Springfield would never get rid of three things: the bats in the public library, Mrs. McFierly’s massive compost heap, and Mayor Joe Quimby.

Mrs. McFearly fiercely defended the heap from complaints and trespassers, often sitting nearby with a shotgun while laughing loudly at anyone who dared approach it.
