Jack in the Box
Jack in the Box is an American fast-food restaurant chain founded in 1951 in San Diego, California by Robert O. Peterson. The company operates restaurants primarily in the United States and is known for its hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, tacos, breakfast items, and other fast-food products. Over the years, Jack in the Box has also promoted its brand through advertising campaigns, special promotions, and licensed merchandise, including products and promotional items connected to popular entertainment franchises.

On September 10, 2026, Jack in the Box launched a limited-time collaboration with The Simpsons based on the show's Treehouse of Horror Halloween specials. The promotion was available at participating Jack in the Box restaurants in the United States, as well as through the company's website and mobile application. It introduced a themed menu, collectible merchandise, and specially designed packaging that combined the Jack in the Box brand with characters and elements from The Simpsons.[1][2]
The central promotion was the Munchie Meal of Horror, a Treehouse of Horror-themed version of Jack in the Box's Munchie Meal. Customers could choose between a Double Krusty Burger of Terror and a Double Chicken Sandwich of Terror, accompanied by two tacos, seasoned curly fries, and a drink. Each meal also included one of six collectible glow-in-the-dark cups, available while supplies lasted. The promotion additionally featured four Treehouse of Horror-themed entrées, including the Krusty Burger of Terror, Double Krusty Burger of Terror, Triple Krusty Burger of Terror, and Double Chicken Sandwich of Terror.[1][3]
The campaign was presented as a fictional crossover in which Krusty the Clown takes over Jack in the Box from Jack Box.[4][5] This premise was incorporated into the promotional material and packaging, placing Jack Box and the Jack in the Box restaurant within the world of The Simpsons. The collaboration was launched shortly before the premiere of the show's 38th season and the 37th Treehouse of Horror special.[1][2]

Munchie Meal of Horror[edit]
The Munchie Meal of Horror was the principal promotional meal. It included a choice of a Double Krusty Burger of Terror or Double Chicken Sandwich of Terror, two tacos, seasoned curly fries, and a drink. The meal came with one of six The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror collectible cups. Both featured entrées used the new Spooky Simpsons Sauce, described by Jack in the Box as a smoky barbecue ketchup, and were served on custom sesame-seed buns inspired by the burgers seen in The Simpsons.[1][2][6]
Krusty Burger of Terror line[edit]
The promotion introduced several Simpsons-themed burgers: the Krusty Burger of Terror, Double Krusty Burger of Terror, and Triple Krusty Burger of Terror. They use sesame-seed buns inspired by the burgers seen in The Simpsons and a new Spooky Simpsons Sauce, described by Jack in the Box as a smoky BBQ ketchup.[1]
Double Chicken Sandwich of Terror[edit]
The Double Chicken Sandwich of Terror consisted of two crispy chicken patties with lettuce, tomato, Swiss-style cheese, and Spooky Simpsons Sauce on a toasted sesame-seed bun. It was offered both as an individual menu item and as one of the two entrée choices in the Munchie Meal of Horror.[1]
Spooky Simpsons Sauce[edit]
Spooky Simpsons Sauce was a new sauce created specifically for the collaboration. Jack in the Box described it as a smoky barbecue ketchup, and it was used on the Krusty Burger of Terror and Double Chicken Sandwich of Terror.[1]
Cups[edit]
The promotion included six special-edition glow-in-the-dark collectible cups. Each cup featured a different Treehouse of Horror-inspired design, including characters such as Hugo, Bart Simpson's evil twin brother, Krusty the Clown, Marge Simpson, and Kang and Kodos. The cups were distributed with the Munchie Meal of Horror while supplies lasted.[1][7][6]
Forbidden D'oh!nut Holes[edit]
The Forbidden D'oh!nut Holes were a dessert based on the pink doughnut associated with Homer Simpson. The item consisted of warm doughnut holes coated in cinnamon sugar and topped with pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles. Its name and concept referenced the Treehouse of Horror segment in which Homer sells his soul in exchange for a doughnut. The packaging also featured Homer transforming into a doughnut.[1][2]
Packaging and merchandise[edit]
The Munchie Meal of Horror was served in specially designed packaging featuring Treehouse of Horror artwork, characters, and references to previous Halloween specials. The Forbidden D'oh!nut Holes also received promotional packaging based on the series. The sandwich wrappers incorporated the Krusty Burger name and imagery as part of the campaign's storyline.[1][3]
The artwork for the Munchie Meal and collectible cups was drawn by longtime The Simpsons artist Bill Morrison, with Mike Rote providing the inks and Serban Cristescu handling colors and production. The collaboration therefore featured artwork produced specifically for the Jack in the Box promotion while retaining the visual style associated with The Simpsons.[8][9]
In September 2026, some Jack in the Box locations reportedly ran out of the collectible cups because of demand. Customers who purchased a Munchie Meal of Horror while cups were unavailable could receive a voucher to claim a cup later, subject to the promotion's redemption terms.[10]
