History

A Hummer sewing machine played a central role in Marge Simpson's repeated attempts to alter a Chanel suit so that it would appear to be a different outfit each time she wore it to the Springfield Glen Country Club. After making several modifications over successive days, Marge continued working on the garment late into the night before an important social event. During the final alterations, the sewing machine accidentally caught the suit and pulled it into its mechanism, severely damaging the garment and forcing Marge to search elsewhere for formal attire
