Bowling Team Information
|
The Holy Rollers are a bowling team that consists of well-known religious people in Springfield. They go to tournaments wearing monks' robes and have a choir accompanying them.
History[edit]
The Holy Rollers competed against teams such as the Pin Pals during the Springfield bowling championship. The team was made up of Ned and Maude Flanders and Reverend Timothy and Helen Lovejoy. They were considered one of the strongest teams in the league, having won the championship trophy for five consecutive years before facing the Pin Pals in the final match.[1] The Pin Pals beat them in league games on two occasions.[1][2]
Behind the Laughter[edit]
The team's name is a pun on the slang term Holy Roller, which is used (generally in a derogatory fashion) to refer to the occasionally boisterous worship style of Pentecostal Christians.
