Cultural references
- The title of the episode is reference to the season 7 episode "Lisa the Vegetarian".
- Ralph says he is Finding Nemo while he drowns.
- Shelly the Turtle is named after Shelly the Turtle from Sesame Street.
- Sallymander could be a reference to the enemy Sillymander in Ni no Kuni.
- Hamilton Fish is named after the politician Hamilton Fish.
- Willie plays the song Amazing Grace on his bagpipes at Nibbles' funeral, just like he did at Maude Flanders' funeral ceremony in the season 11 episode, Alone Again, Natura-Diddily.
Trivia
- This is the fourth Bill Plympton's couch gag. The first was in "Beware My Cheating Bart", the second was in "Black-Eyed, Please" and the third was in "Married to the Blob".
- The "fish that swim up your wiener" are actually real. They are called "Candiru". They are common in South America and do the same as what Bart mentioned, but rolling around in the snow naked is not the cure.
- A gag with the homeless guy looking at a store's window, where he rambled on about peanut butter, was cut.[1]
Continuity
- Bart is seen wearing his red hat in this episode. The last time he wore it was in "Blazed and Confused".
- Homer and Marge watches a video on MyTube. ("Elementary School Musical")
- Nibbles dies. ("Skinner's Sense of Snow")
- During his funeral, pictures of him are shown. ("Skinner's Sense of Snow", "She of Little Faith")
Goofs
- Lisa says this was her first kiss, but Lisa and Nelson shared their first kiss in the Springfield Observatory. ("Lisa's Date with Density")
- At the car crash scene, when Marge was talking with Wiggum, the crash was a head-on or a rear-end impact between a red and a purple vehicle, but when Marge start cleaning the scene, it's a t-bone crash.
- There were also two ambulances and a fire truck at the crash site, but when Marge starts cleaning the scene, there's only one ambulance.
- The buildings surrounding the crash change appearances between scenes.
