Poseidon are the god of the sea, and, as "Earth-Shaker," of earthquakes in the Greek mythology.

History

Zeus became angry with Odysseus when he refused to sacrifice one lamb in gratitude for his victory in the Trojan War. Odysseus then tried to sail home to Ithaca, but Zeus commanded Poseidon to delay his trip so that it ended up taking ten years. In the form of a cloud he blew away their ship with the resultat he delay his trip.

Behind the Laughter

• Odysseus appears in the "D'oh, Brother Where Art Thou?" segment of "Tales from the Public Domain". The segment is a re-telling of the Odyssey with Joe Quimby cast in the role of Zeus, Homer as Odysseus and the Sea Captain as Poseidon.
