Ferrero SpA is an Italian multinational confectionery company founded in 1946 in Alba, Piedmont. The company began as a family business operated by Pietro Ferrero and Giovanni Ferrero and subsequently expanded into an international food manufacturer. Ferrero's portfolio includes brands such as Kinder, Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, and Tic Tac, with its products distributed internationally.

Promotions

Kinder Surprise

In 2007, Ferrero released a series of figures as part of the Kinder Surprise line as part of the promotional collections for The Simpsons Movie. The collection featured ten figures of characters from the series, including Bart Simpson, Homer Simpson, Marge and Maggie, Lisa Simpson, Otto, Krusty, Mr. Burns, Nelson, Sideshow Bob, and Milhouse. n other countries, the collection was released in 2008 as a The Simpsons Kinder promotion without the The Simpsons Movie branding.[1][2][3]

A separate sports-themed series, The Simpsons Sport, was released in 2010 as part of the Kinder Italia 2010–2011 collections. The series featured sports-themed versions of characters including Bart, Homer, Lisa, Maggie, Marge, Mr. Burns, Nelson, and Milhouse. A separate Bart figure was also released with a USB card.[4]

Tic Tac

In 2016, Ferrero introduced a limited-edition line of The Simpsons-themed Tic Tac mints featuring Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, and Bart Simpson. The products were launched in European markets in September 2016 and supported by a multimedia advertising campaign. The three main varieties were Donut, associated with Homer; Blueberry, associated with Marge; and Bubble Gum, associated with Bart. The products were available in several package sizes, including 18 g, 49 g, and 98 g packages in some markets. Ferrero also used printing technology to reproduce The Simpsons character faces and expressions directly on the individual mints.[5][6][7][8][9]

A fourth variety, Buzz Cola, was also produced as part of The Simpsons Tic Tac line. Unlike the character-specific varieties, the Buzz Cola packaging featured Bart, Homer, and Marge together, along with an image of the fictional Buzz Cola soft drink from The Simpsons. The candy had a cola flavor.[10]

The Tic Tac promotion incorporated The Simpsons characters into the flavors, individual mints, packaging, advertising, and promotional materials. The promotion was supported by television, online, social-media, cinema, and point-of-sale advertising. The Tic Tac campaign was initially distributed in European markets and was subsequently introduced in additional countries.[11][8]
