Apu's Incredible 96 Hour Shift (Without Having a Break!) is a Simpsons Comics first printed in Simpsons Comics #10.

Synopsis[edit]

Apu shows Jamshed the security tapes from his lengthy 96-hour shift at the Kwik-E-Mart.

Plot[edit]

Apu and Jamshed are in the back room of the Kwik-E-Mart, where Apu is teaching Jamshed how to manage the store. He tells Jamshed that he's going to show him the security tape from his 96-hour shift.

At the start of the tape, Nelson, Dolph, and Kearney are shoplifting, which Apu didn't notice at the time. Next, Homer enters the store in his Mr. Plow jacket and, after buying some supplies, offers to plow the snow outside the Kwik-E-Mart. After Homer leaves, Snake comes in to rob the store. However, Apu throws a chutney Squishee over him, then tackles him to the ground and ties him up. After Apu calls the police, he finds out that Homer has plowed all the snow into the door of the Kwik-E-Mart, trapping him inside.

Chief Wiggum arrives to arrest Snake but finds the Kwik-E-Mart barricaded. While waiting for Homer to come back and remove the snow, Apu decides to pass the time by doing other things. First, he prank-calls Moe's Tavern, even though Moe doesn't understand the joke Apu makes. He then creates a talk show out of food items, where he interviews John Travolta. After this, he cleans out the Squishee machine, creates a shrine to Ganesha out of beef jerky, becomes a "circus boy," and puts on a one-man musical. Near the end of his shift, Apu thinks he is some kind of hummingbird.

Finally, Apu is saved after Patty and Selma burst into the Kwik-E-Mart because they ran out of Lady Laramie cigarettes. Sanjay makes sure Apu is okay while Chief Wiggum asks him for the donuts he wanted. Apu tells Jamshed that he's learned that even if you work for 96 hours without a single sale, your time spent working is never a waste, especially if you have a cousin who works on America's Strangest Security Camera Videos.
