Basketball is quite a popular sport played and watched in Springfield.

History

At the Springfield Youth Center, Lisa participated in basketball tryouts after being warned that she was failing gym class. While the other children dribbled normally, Lisa repeatedly bounced the basketball off her forehead, showing that she struggled badly with the sport. Later, Marge tried to cheer up Bart by playing basketball with him outside the Simpson house. After awkwardly dribbling the ball, she shouted “Watch out for the Shaq attack!” and accidentally threw the basketball directly into Bart’s face.

Homer sometimes plays Basketball with people like Lenny and Carl. WNBA games are also sometimes seen in Springfield. At one time Mr. Burns took over a basketball team from The Rich Texan. Yao Ming is a famous Basketball player that Homer has met.
