Edna, Queen of the Congo: Jungle Bungle is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #8.

Synopsis[edit]

Edna is the Queen of the Congo and discovers a group of explorers on their way to Puma Palace who are kidnapped by the indigenous tribe.

Plot[edit]

A group of explorers is going through the dense Congolian rainforests, led by Bwana Seymour. Meanwhile, Edna, Queen of the Congo is watching them from a tree. Willie asks Bwana Seymour to let them take a break, as they have been walking through the jungle all day. Bwana Seymour tells Willie that their excursion is nearing its end as they find Puma Palace. Bwana Seymour tells the other expedition members that the temple was built by a tribe of cat lovers who worshiped the ultra-rare purple puma. Martin points out that pumas are not found in the Congo, but Seymour tells him that he said it was ultra-rare. Edna keeps watching them, thinking that they might be in trouble. The purple puma then appears and attacks the expedition. Edna tries to rush to help them, but a snake wraps itself around her. Willie springs into action, wrestling with the puma, while Edna ties the snake into knots.

Bwana Seymour gets ready to shoot the purple puma dead, but a spear goes through his hat, thrown by a tribal Bart. The tribe captures the expedition and takes them back to their camp, with Bwana Seymour being put into a cooking pot. Edna goes to rescue the expedition and attacks the camp, scaring away most of the tribe. Edna shows Bart an effigy of Sideshow Bob, which scares Bart and causes him to run away. Edna rescues the puma and lets it go, and she tells Bwana Seymour that every month, an expedition comes along to find the puma, and they all turn out to be duds. She says that someday, one person will come along who is worth marrying. Edna imagines the man she will marry while Seymour keeps boiling in the pot.
