The Esquilax is claimed to be a horse with a head of a rabbit and the body of a rabbit by Chief Wiggum. It is, however, just a rabbit and there is nothing mythical about it at all.

Behind the Laughter

According to Bill Giese, who assisted in naming many Pokémon, Snorlax derives part of its English name from the Esquilax.
