The Shelbyville Nine are nonuplets who were supposedly born to a Shelbyville couple shortly after Apu and Manjula gave birth to their octuplets with the "Father" making a direct dig at Springfield's Octuplets.

In The Simpsons: Hit & Run, when Apu needed to collect diapers for his octuplets in an emergency, he decided to steal some from the Shelbyville nine. Using the Car Built For Homer, he rammed the nonuplet family's van, causing the diapers to fall out, which he then collected.

Trivia

• Nontuplets have never occured in recorded history until 2021, many years after the episode they debuted in.
• It is entirely possible this miracle was hoaxed to steal media away from Springfield, playing into the Springfield-Shelbyville town rivalry.
