Howell Huser is a tourist who travels Springfield. Bart and Milhouse took Howell Huser to the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant where he is beaten up by a monster sized Blinky. Later he is then hurt by false gum and eventually humiliated. Three days later on TV he names Springfield "THE WORST TOWN EVER" and a month later tourists stop coming to Springfield which then has Mayor Quimby legalize same-sex marriages.

Behind the Scenes

Howell Huser is based on real life television personality Huell Howser who has produced television shows at the Los Angeles public broadcasting station, KCET-TV since about 1988.  These shows are seen frequently on public television stations in the state of California, and occasionally on public television stations in other states in the USA.  Howser, who was born and raised in Tennessee, is known for his southern accent, folksy, homespun manner, ingratiating interview style, and awe-struck wonderment at rather mundane places, people and objects.  He is a well-known media personality in Los Angeles.

The character of Howell Huser is one of the only named characters in the series to be voiced by Karl Wiedergott.
