Cultural references

• The name is a reference to the film The Day the Earth Stood Still.
  • The film has also been referenced in the title of the segment "The Day the Earth Looked Stupid", from the episode "Treehouse of Horror XVII" from Season 18.
• When Bart and T-Rex fight, the band plays the "fight scene" music from Star Trek: The Original Series, first heard in the episode "Amok Time".

Goofs

• Bart "Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha"s at the beginning of the episode, and when we see Bart's face, the movement of the mouth does not match to the last "ha".
