Oregon is a state in the USA. Its capital city is Salem, and its largest city is Portland.

Homer took Bart to Upward Bound, located in Oregon. They had a road trip through it which resulted in Homer realizing how much he loved his son. Homer accidentally drove through the Birthplace of Matt Groening while here.
On his way to Las Vegas, Homer realized how much Bart actually meant to him and went back to collect him.
Behind the Laughter
Matt Groening was born in Portland, Oregon. Matt Groening later stated in an interview that Springfield is named after Springfield, Oregon.[1]
