"I am being held somewhere in the Springfield area. Now turn to card."
―Homer Simpson

The Falcon and the D'ohman is the first episode of The Simpsons' twenty-third season, which will premiere September 25, 2011 on Fox. [1][2][3] It will feature Wayne, a Jack Bauer-like character arriving in Springfield.[4][5].

Plot

Homer befriends Wayne (guest voice Kiefer Sutherland), a reserved security guard recently hired by the nuclear power plant. Plagued by violent flashbacks from his past as a CIA agent, he must overcome his tortured nightmares to save Homer from a Ukranian terrorist. But during a robbery at Moe's Tavern by Snake, he reveals his past as an agent to Homer and his friends. Meanwhile, Marge fantasizes about being a contestant on “Top Chef” hosted by Tom Colicchio (guest voicing as himself), and the future of Springfield’s hottest “it” couple Nedna, Edna Krabappel (guest voice Marcia Wallace) and Ned Flanders, will be revealed after months of online fan voting and speculation.[6]

Production

Several videos leaked across the internet featuring scenes from this episode in the month and the month before its premiere. In August, FoxBroadcasting on YouTube released a short promo about Homer's storyline, in which we learn Kiefer Sutherland's character, Wayne. Entertainment Weekly released two videos, one with the robbery at Moe's Tavern, and the other with Comic Book Guy opening the episode with a prologue, telling viewers about his summer and having the new season premiere on his computer.
