- The episode name is a reference to a "Peeping tom", a name for a male voyeur.
- Ned Flanders' new dog is called Maher-shalal-hash-baz, just like the second mentioned son of the prophet Isaiah.

- The North American Sumo League (NASL) is a parody of the former tournament North American Soccer League.
- Groundskeeper Willie plays the "Highland March", a traditional Scottish march.
