History
When Homer was giving his speech to the people of Iceland (in defense of Carl), he mentioned Iceland having a lesbian prime minister, which made Sigurðardóttir roll her eyes.
Behind the Laughter
Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir is well known for being the first openly LGBT world leader. She served as the Prime Minister of Iceland from February 1, 2009 to May 23, 2013, four days after "The Saga of Carl" aired.
