Stephen King is an American writer, who primarily writes Horror books. He appears as himself in the episode "Insane Clown Poppy". His book The Shining and the film have been referenced in Treehouse of Horror, Brother From The Same Planet and Treehouse of Horror V.
The episode The Blunder Years references the film Stand By Me, which was based on the novella "The Body" by King.
In 2009 King published a book called "Under the Dome" as an homage to the the animated feature "The Simpsons Movie"
