Lois tells Peter that he needs to recover the money to buy their daughter a new pair of glasses. After hearing [[Lenny|Quagmire]] and [[Carl|Cleveland]] talk about how men with Jewish-sounding names have helped them achieve financial success, Peter decides that he needs a Jew to handle his money in an elaborate musical number based on "When You Wish upon a Star". When a Jewish man named [[Old Jewish man|Max Weinstein]] has car trouble outside the Griffin house, Peter takes it as a sign. After a foot chase, Peter pressures Max into helping him get the emergency money back.

They tell the family they want to start a new life in the Outlands, away from Springfield. After inviting Max to dinner and accompanying him to a reform synagogue, Peter comes to the conclusion that [[Bart|Chris]] would get smarter if he converted to Judaism. He secretly drives Chris to [[Las Vegas]] for a quickie Bar Mitzvah, Lois finds out about this from [[Santa's Little Helper|Brian]] and, borrowing Quagmire's car, arrives just in time to stop the ceremony. "At Long Last Leave" is the fourteenth episode of season 23. It originally aired on February 19, 2012 and is the 500th episode of The Simpsons. Julian Assange guest starred as himself, Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob and Jackie Mason as Hyman Krustofsky.

The Simpsons sneak into a secret town meeting to which they aren't invited and discover it's about whether to ban the family from Springfield. The town decides to evict the family, forcing them to leave town. The family moves to the The Outlands, an off-the-grid community where people are free to do almost anything. One of their new neighbors is Julian Assange. Homer and Marge try to sneak back into Springfield dressed as Mr. Burns and Smithers, but are caught and threatened to be shot. They decide it was actually better in the Outlands, so go back. After the Simpsons get used to their new life, Bart and Maggie discover that Lenny and Carl have moved in.
