Cheryl Monroe is the mother of Sam Monroe.
History[edit]
When Lisa befriended Sam, she stayed for dinner and met Sam's parents. Cheryl revealed to Lisa that she is a marine biologist. She was once part of an improv group and asked the audience for an occupation, then fell in love with the career. Cheryl also kept a diary of Sam's sayings, called "Sam's Pearls". Cheryl also played the cello and could sing, as she sang in a duet with her husband.
Later, Cheryl started to keep a diary of Lisa's sayings too. At dinner, she told Lisa that she assumed Lisa's family was like her own. At that meal, Sam's family revealed that they were moving away. Lisa then lied about her own family to make them seem more impressive than they were. When Sam revealed that they weren't moving after all, Cheryl told Lisa that they could now meet her family. Lisa then lied to them, saying that her family were moving away. Cheryl then offered Lisa the chance to stay with them, which Lisa accepted. Lisa then went between both houses, lying to each family.
Eventually, Marge found out about Lisa's lies and made her invite the Monroes over for dinner. They came over on Saturday, and the Simpsons were on their best behavior. Lisa then admitted to them that she had lied about her family to impress them. They forgave Lisa, then went up to Bart's bedroom to party.
