[[Professor Frink]] has let chimpanzees watch TV for 27 days after giving them his PIE formula when they decide to run away from the lab. [[Bart]] and [[Milhouse]] discover someone in [[Bart's treehouse]] and when they check out what it is, it turns out to be monkeys. They decide to chase them away and try to scare them off by smashing the trashcan lids, but their plan fails when the monkeys spray them with a water hose. They try to trick the monkeys with bananas, but the monkeys steal them instead. They stay in the treehouse and throw the banana skins at them. Bart goes to [[Lisa]], who says that she read on Professor Frink's blog that he is doing a project with chimpanzees. She sends a text message to him, and Frink comes over and confirms that they are his chimpanzees. He discovers that he has a group of intelligent chimpanzees, and decides to let them decide where to go. Bart and Milhouse are not satisfied with the answer, and Lisa leaves them and lets them continue by themselves. They try to get [[Nelson]] to knock them down, but the monkeys are good at self-defense and they knock down Nelson. The apes then begin to speak English and tell Bart and Milhouse that they are not monkeys, they are chimpanzees. The chimpanzees tell them that they think the treehouse is a good place for them. Bart tells them that there is a better place, and he brings the chimpanzees to [[Moe's]]. The chimpanzees like the place, but [[Moe]] does not like them until he discovers that they have money because they make a small fortune after selling their reality show pilots to the television networks. Moe throws out his regular customers. Bart and Milhouse are delighted to have the treehouse back, but [[Homer]], [[Carl]] and [[Lenny]] are not happy about the loss of Moe's.

Treehouse of Chimps is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #86.

Synopsis[edit]

When Professor Frink's experiments give rise to a group of highly intelligent chimpanzees, Bart and Milhouse find their treehouse overrun by the educated primates. Once their battle plan to take it back is drawn up from beneath the branches of their beloved hideout, Bart and his buddy must prepare for a final showdown that will either lead to conquest or require escape from the Treehouse of the Apes.

Plot[edit]

Professor Frink has been running an experiment on three chimps, which he injected with his Primate Intelligence Enhancer. He observes his chimps stacking chairs and thinks it's part of a ritual. However, they escape through a skylight which he had left open instead. Later, Bart and Milhouse go to Bart's treehouse, where they find the chimps watching Downton Abbey. They are surprised to find chimps there and decide to chase them off. When they grab the lids from the metal bins to make noise with, they find Homer is home early. Homer mistakes "monkeys" for The Monkees, but then leaves Bart and Milhouse when he finds out it's normal monkeys. The kids go back to the treehouse and start making noise, only for the chimps to turn a hosepipe on them. They realize that they're not dealing with average monkeys.

Bart and Milhouse grab a crate of bananas to lure the monkeys out and catch them in a net. Instead, the chimps hook the crate and bring it up to the treehouse before flinging the banana peels at the kids. They decide to go to Lisa for help, who messages Professor Frink because she read on his blog that he was experimenting with chimpanzees. Soon, Frink shows up but tells them that there's nothing he can do to help them because it's now up to the chimps to find their place in the world. Frink then flies off in a flying car and Bart and Milhouse decide to resort to senseless violence to take back the treehouse.

Nelson shows up, having a feeling that he was needed. The three kids then climb into the treehouse and Nelson attempts to fight one of the chimps, only to be attacked back. As Nelson is unconscious, the monkeys speak to Bart and Milhouse. They explain that they want to observe humans in their natural habitat as it makes them feel superior, which is why they took up residence in the treehouse. Bart tells the chimps that he knows a better place for them and takes them to Moe's Tavern. Moe initially threatens the chimps, thinking they're freeloaders, but then the chimps reveal they have money on them. Moe then kicks out Homer, Lenny, and Carl, while Homer complains about natural selection.
