Titanic is a 1997 film by James Cameron starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet based on the sinking of the RMS Titanic in April 1912. The film was one of the biggest box-office successes of all time and won 11 Academy Awards.

Later in the episode, the ship sinks. 14 303 "I'm Spelling as Fast as I Can" Lisa shouts out: "I'll be queen of the world... of spelling!". This is a reference to what Jack's line: "I'm king of the world!" in the film. 18 380 "Jazzy and the Pussycats" Moe says that Titanic was "unsinkable at the box office." 22 468 "Treehouse of Horror XXI" In the segment "War and Pieces" Milhouse sinks down into the water, mirroring Jack's death scene in Titanic. 23 493 "The Man in the Blue Flannel Pants" Mr. Burns is told that his "heart will go on", a reference to the theme song of Titanic, namely "My Heart Will Go On" by Céline Dion. 25 543 "The Man Who Grew Too Much" Groundskeeper Willie is mopping the hallway when he hears the crowd of students rushing the cafeteria for Taco Tuesday. When he finds there is very little empty space in the janitor's closet, he is forced to choose between saving himself or the mop from being overrun. "My Heart Will Go On" plays as Willie chooses to save the mop and puts it in the closet. 32 702 "Burger Kings" Mr. Burns and the hamburger reenact "draw me like one of your French girls" and the scene on the raft from Titanic. 37 802 "¡The Fall Guy-Yi-Yi!" Alejandro González Iñárritu introduces himself as the director of the movie The Revenant, with Homer mentioning the bear eating "the boy" from Titanic.

The Simpsons Movie[edit]

Picture Reference Green Day's barge starts to sink in Lake Springfield, whereupon Mike Dirnt says: "Gentlemen, it's been an honor playing with you tonight" and they all take out violins to start playing the hymn Nearer, My God, to Thee. This references the band on board of the Titanic who kept on playing despite the ship sinking with the final song being Nearer, My God, to Thee. Mike Dirnt's line is a direct quote from Jonathan Evans-Jones as bandleader Wallace Hartley in the 1997 movie although Mike Dirnt said it before the band started playing Nearer, My God, to Thee and in the 1997 movie Wallace Hartley said it after the band came to end of the hymn.

One of the death traps at Burnsimoto's Castle is "James Cameron Academy Award acceptance speech on a continuous loop", referring to his acceptance speech for best director in 1998 for Titanic. Smithers discourages Mr. Burns from pressing it when Homer falls into the trap, as it would be unbearable, although Burns presses it anyway alongside the other traps. Homer then proceeds to get attacked by various animals and weapons with the words "I'm king of the world!" repeating in the background. Simpsons Comics #62 Bart Simpson's Bible Stories During the great flood in the Noah's Ark segment, Rose is seen on the floating door from the film, saying goodbye to Jack. Simpsons Comics #234 Water Squish Down Milhouse hallucinates about the RMS Milhouse, a version of the RMS Titanic where all the passengers are Milhouse lookalikes. Two of the passengers are based on Jack and Rose during the famous "flying" scene of the film.
