- The chalkboard gag refers to the 28 seasons of the show; Taylor Swift is also around the same age as the show; being born only 4 days before the airing of "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire".
- When Homer is driving home from his shift at the Power Plant, instead of throwing the rod to Otto, he gets stuck in the traffic and opens up the EZcape app to help him get through, thus starting the episode.
