Maryland is one of the 50 states in the US. It's capital city is Annapolis.
History
In 1796 a fiercely determined band of pioneers lead by Jebediah Springfield leaves Maryland after misinterpreting a passage in the Bible. Their destination was New Sodom, but instead they found Springfield.
After getting run out of Florida, the Simpson family was trying to decide on where to go for their next vacation. They were looking at a map of the US that had most of states crossed out, which were apparently all the states that the Simpsons were no longer allowed to enter.[1]
Trivia
In Maryland it is illegal to take a lion to the movies.[2]
