Cultural references
- The title of the episode is a parody of the play Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett.
- The title could be as well an allusion to the movie Waiting for Guffman.
- The episode was dedicated to Sam Simon who passed away on March 8th, one week before this episode aired. Part of an interview was shown during the credits at he end.
Trivia
- After Homer says "Relax honey, noone has ever been killed by a T-shirt cannon.", one of Bart's T-shirts breaks one of Ned's bedroom windows, breaking a picture of Maude Flanders, that died after getting shot by a T-shirt cannon. ("Alone Again, Natura-Diddily")
